Philosophy of Social Justice
To me social justice is giving everyone equal opportunity. Service is a big part of it and I think that helping those in need is a good step toward good intentions and social justice. Keeping a level playing field when it comes to the issues we face on a day to day basis and fighting against them is a must. One must keep one goal in mind and people need to work together to achieve that goal. The types of obstacles that we face when attempting to achieve social justice may have to do with the means to achieve social justice. When different ideologies clash and someone has different values than you do then accomplishing social justice will be challenging. To achieve this social justice one has to plan and collaborate with others to make something happen. for social justice to come true one must care for others and be willing to respect each others opinion and keep your vision in front of you. My role in the struggle as I want to be a sociologist, is finding the causes that stop the world from peace. Things that link to violence, poverty, and the war on drugs. My issue directly relates to social justice because it is looking at the way social justice curricula is being taught in America and the world as a whole. Social justice education should not be taken lightly but as something special and important. Education should not be used to just memorize knowledge but use that knowledge to spark change like Paulo Freire once said.
